Teacher mobility can play a significant role in enhancing the quality of teacher training and increasing the motivation of teachers. It subsequently contributes to the achievement of wider policy aims such as increasing the quality of education, reducing early school leaving, increasing the skill level of the population and ensuring that high quality education is provided for all children. There is evidence of the benefits from a range of studies, including those on the EU Comenius programme, research for the European Parliament and national studies. Mobility of school education staff not only brings direct benefits to schools and individual staff members but also contributes to increased internationalisation, stronger links with organisations and stakeholders outside school and enhanced professional development.
