Abstract/Sommario: The European Union’s population structure is changing and becoming progressively older – at the beginning of 2010, there were 87 million people aged 65 and over in the EU, more than 17 % of the total population. In response to demographic challenges being faced within Europe, the European Union designated 2012 as the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations. In response to demographic challenges being faced within Europe, the European Union designated 2012 as the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations. The overall objective of the European Year is to facilitate the creation of an active ageing culture in Europe based on a society for all ages. As Europeans live longer and healthier lives, governments are looking for ways to involve older persons more in society and to keep them active. Eurostat is marking the European Year by publishing this book which contains statistics on topics such as demography, healthcare, pensions, volunteering and adult learning. Abstract/Sommario: This publication is the fourth edition in Eurostat’s series of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) monitoring reports, which provide a quantitative assessment of European Union (EU) progress towards reaching the SDGs. The 2020 edition is based on a set of around 100 indicators that have been selected taking into account their policy relevance from an EU perspective as well as their availability, country coverage, data freshness and quality.

The report combines statistical data with qualitative information to describe the organisation, management and functioning of 37 European education systems from pre-primary to higher education. The publication covers many of the priority areas for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020) and the broader European strategy for smart, susta ...; [Leggi tutto...] Key Data on Education 2012 is a Eurydice publication tracing the main developments of European education systems over the last decade. The report combines statistical data with qualitative information to describe the organisation, management and functioning of 37 European education systems from pre-primary to higher education. The publication covers many of the priority areas for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020) and the broader European strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth over the coming decade (EU 2020). More specifically, the 95 indicators included in the report address the following topics: Demographic Context, Educational Structures, Participation, Resources, Teachers and Management staff, Educational Processes and Qualification Levels and Transition to Employment. In comparison to the previous edition, Key data on Education 2012 has been improved through the inclusion of longer time series, making it easier to identify specific developments affecting aspects of education systems and to analyse the present situation in regard to the past. Key Data on Education 2012 is a joint publication with Eurostat and based on data collected through the National Units of the Eurydice Network, Eurostat, and the PISA 2009 international survey.

La pubblicazione Eurydice ripercorre i principali sviluppi dei sistemi educativi europei negli ultimi dieci anni. Il rapporto presenta dati statistici e informazioni qualitative sull’organizzazione, la gestione e il funzionamento di 37 sistemi educativi, dall’istruzione preprimaria all’istruzione superiore. La pubblicazione tratta molte delle aree priopritarie della cooperazione europea sull’istruzione e la formazione (ET 2020) e la più ampia strategia europea per una crescita rapida, sostenibile e inclusiva nei prossimi decenni (EU 2020). Più nello specifico, i 95 indicatori del rapporto si riferiscono ai seguenti argomenti: contesto demografico, strutture educative, partecipazione, risorse, insegnanti e personale dirigente, processi educativi e livelli di qualifica e transizione al mondo del lavoro. Rispetto all’edizione precedente, il rapporto 2012 è arricchito da varie serie di dati a lungo termine che facilitano l’individuazione di cambiamenti specifici su determinati aspetti dei sistemi educativi e l’analisi della situazione attuale rispetto al passato. La pubblicazione è stata realizzata in collaborazione con Eurostat e si basa su dati forniti dalle unità nazionali della rete Eurydice, da Eurostat, e su dati tratti dall’indagine internazionale PISA 2009.

Abstract/Sommario: This extensive pocketbook on enlargement countries covers the years 2001 to 2011 and contains tables and graphs on demography, education, social conditions and labour force, national accounts, finance and prices, agriculture, energy, industry, construction and services, transport, communications and information society, as well as external trade, research and development and environment. A short commentary on the data and methodological notes are also included.

Abstract/Sommario: The purpose of this quality report is to provide the users of the European Union Labour Market Statistics with a tool for assessing the quality of these statistics which are based on the European Union Labour Force Survey. It provides a brief description of the survey and a summary of the main quality indicators which are: relevance, accuracy, accessibility and clarity, timeliness and punctuality, comparability, and coherence. The quality report is updated annually.

Abstract/Sommario: This pocketbook gives an overview of science, technology and innovation (STI) statistics. All the statistical data and indicators are based on sources available at Eurostat. Only the most relevant indicators have been selected so as to give an overall statistical picture of science, technology and innovation in Europe and of where the EU stands in relation to its partners.
