Abstract/Sommario: Eurofound has established a research strand to provide the evidence on whether and where socioeconomic trends are converging or diverging across countries. This report establishes a conceptual framework to support Eurofound’s research on convergence. This report establishes a conceptual framework to support Eurofound’s research on convergence. It develops a methodological strategy to examine convergence and applies it to investigate patterns across the EU in 37 indicators. These encompass four areas of the social domain: employment, working conditions, living conditions and socioeconomic factors. It finds that since the crisis, there has been upward convergence in 23 of the indicators.

Abstract/Sommario: For European companies, correctly assessing skills and competence is a crucial factor in recruitment and human resource management. But enterprises do not focus equally on all staff. Competence assessment practices predominantly target executives and technical specialists, and company size influences the way assessments are carried out. Moreover, outcomes of such assessments are mainly used for internal company purposes; validating employee skills within the company is thus of limited ...; [Leggi tutto...] For European companies, correctly assessing skills and competence is a crucial factor in recruitment and human resource management. But enterprises do not focus equally on all staff. Competence assessment practices predominantly target executives and technical specialists, and company size influences the way assessments are carried out. Moreover, outcomes of such assessments are mainly used for internal company purposes; validating employee skills within the company is thus of limited help to people seeking alternative employment or further learning. Based on a survey of 400 enterprises, 20 in-depth case studies and interviews with human resource experts in 10 countries, this report analyses the main purposes of competence assessment, the standards and methods applied, the employee groups targeted and the way results are documented and used.

Abstract/Sommario: This document concerns the use of ECVET for geographical mobility, in particular mobility that is organised as an element of learners’ education and training pathways. To support mobility, ECVET is expected to improve the possibilities for recognition of learning outcomes and thus to enable people to build on what they have learned abroad, in a different education and training institution or in different situations. In other words, thanks to ECVET, it should become easier to fully inte ...; [Leggi tutto...] This document concerns the use of ECVET for geographical mobility, in particular mobility that is organised as an element of learners’ education and training pathways. To support mobility, ECVET is expected to improve the possibilities for recognition of learning outcomes and thus to enable people to build on what they have learned abroad, in a different education and training institution or in different situations. In other words, thanks to ECVET, it should become easier to fully integrate mobility into learners’ learning pathways and to make visible and recognised what they have learned abroad. The success of ECVET will depend on the development of mutual trust among competent institutions.

Abstract/Sommario: This note is intended to inspire further experimentation of ECVET for lifelong learning and to support the application of ECVET in the recognition of learning outcomes in different situations. It was written to illustrate the added value of ECVET technical specifications in creating flexible learning pathways in a lifelong learning perspective.
