Abstract/Sommario: The social care sector has expanded into one of the largest providers of jobs. In the EU-27, over 21 million people are employed in the health and social services. This represents a rise of 24% since 2000 and 10% of the total workforce in 2009. Yet the field continues to be understaffed and undervalued. Women constitute the vast majority of care workers. In the EU-27, over 21 million people are employed in the health and social services. This represents a rise of 24% since 2000 and 10% of the total workforce in 2009. Yet the field continues to be understaffed and undervalued. Women constitute the vast majority of care workers. Many workers are migrants, who are likely to be less proficient in the local language and new technologies, and possibly less qualified. Moving care away from institutions and into the community also accentuates the need for a more comprehensive skills set. To explore this complex field, Cedefop decided to analyse the generic competences of two groups: front-line workers and managers in community-based services. The study includes a literature review of generic competences, including leadership. In addition, it reports from focus groups set up in five Member States with different social traditions - Germany, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and the UK. These served to identify similarities and differences in social care and to reach a definition of the generic competences needed to respond to the challenges facing Europe. Eighteen case studies of innovative training are examined to determine whether their successes can be duplicated elsewhere. The study ends with policy recommendations, including on quality assurance measures for training. - Viene affrontato il tema del ruolo della formazione per i lavoratori e i manager dei servizi socio-assistenziali analizzandone le competenze necessarie in termini di abilità, conoscenze e attitudini. This report reveals citizens’ perceptions of quality in healthcare, long-term care and childcare, and compares them between countries, groups in society and the receivers of care and indirect service users.

It looks at such aspects of society as trust in institutions and other people, perceived tensions between social groups, attitudes towards migrants and the effects of the economic crisis on social inclusion and social cohesion. It  nds that satisfaction with the economic situation of one’s country, not being in employment and overall life satisfaction appear to boost satisfaction ...; [Leggi tutto...] This report explores how Europeans perceive the quality of their societies, and of their public services. It looks at such aspects of society as trust in institutions and other people, perceived tensions between social groups, attitudes towards migrants and the effects of the economic crisis on social inclusion and social cohesion. It  nds that satisfaction with the economic situation of one’s country, not being in employment and overall life satisfaction appear to boost satisfaction with public services; hardship appears to reduce it. In societal terms, trust in institutions decreased visibly from 2007 to 2011. Trust in people however changed less than trust in institutions and is more similar across the EU. A positive relationship exists between trust in institutions and satisfaction with the economic situation of one’s own country; a negative relationship between trust in institutions and inequality. And tensions were perceived to be highest between different racial and ethnic groups and between rich and poor.

Abstract/Sommario: The purpose of this quality report is to provide the users of the European Union Labour Market Statistics with a tool for assessing the quality of these statistics which are based on the European Union Labour Force Survey. It provides a brief description of the survey and a summary of the main quality indicators which are: relevance, accuracy, accessibility and clarity, timeliness and punctuality, comparability, and coherence. The quality report is updated annually.

The aim of the study is to bridge the information gap on occupational profiles by providing essential characteristics required by the economy, in terms of level and field of education and training, as well as other requirements such as knowledge, skills, competence, occupational interests, and work values. The aim of the study is to bridge the information gap on occupational profiles by providing essential characteristics required by the economy, in terms of level and field of education and training, as well as other requirements such as knowledge, skills, competence, occupational interests, and work values.
