Abstract/Sommario: This extensive pocketbook on enlargement countries covers the years 2001 to 2011 and contains tables and graphs on demography, education, social conditions and labour force, national accounts, finance and prices, agriculture, energy, industry, construction and services, transport, communications and information society, as well as external trade, research and development and environment. A short commentary on the data and methodological notes are also included.

It takes a broad view of the term to examine the situation that arises when the divergence in working conditions between different groups of workers is attributable to factors other than differentials in human capital levels. The report explores which policies or instruments are most effective in combating labour market segmen ...; [Leggi tutto...] This report sets out to describe what labour market segmentation is and why it is problematic for the labour market and society, as well as disadvantaged groups. It takes a broad view of the term to examine the situation that arises when the divergence in working conditions between different groups of workers is attributable to factors other than differentials in human capital levels. The report explores which policies or instruments are most effective in combating labour market segmentation, taking into account specific situational characteristics. The report offers a novel approach to the study of labour market segmentation that combines a quantitative empirical analysis with a policy analysis.

The aim is to provide an overview of migration patterns and trends in the EU, as well as a summary of policy initiatives and measures introduced with a view to enhancing the interregional and cross-border mobility of workers. The report draws on a range of sources identified at EU and national level and is compiled on the basis of individual national reports from Eurofound’s netw ...; [Leggi tutto...] This report examines the phenomenon of labour migration between and within countries in the European Union. The aim is to provide an overview of migration patterns and trends in the EU, as well as a summary of policy initiatives and measures introduced with a view to enhancing the interregional and cross-border mobility of workers. The report draws on a range of sources identified at EU and national level and is compiled on the basis of individual national reports from Eurofound’s network of correspondents, covering all 28 EU countries plus Norway. For some countries, the findings are supplemented with information from interviews with national stakeholders.
