Implemented by a network of 15 National Agencies for Lifelong Learning, the main objectives of the thematic network “Quality Assurance in Lifelong Learning with a focus on VET and AE” (QALLL) were to bring good quality assurance practice of Grundtvig and Leonardo da Vinci projects into prominence, to facilitate mainstreaming of their results, to promote and support networking, to foster cross-sectoral (VET and AE) discussion of quality assurance and ultimately to help improving the quality and efficiency of education and training in Europe. The report is structured around a shared set of key issues in quality assurance, defined in the course of QALLL. They are mutually non-exclusive and highlight different perspectives of quality assurance in VET and AE. The key issues are: the EQAVET quality criteria as central point of reference for quality assurance in European VET; QA methodologies and approaches in use, including self-assessment/evaluation, external assessment/evaluation and accreditation; quality management systems, standards and indicators; quality assurance in two special areas: guidance and work-based learning.
