This first edition of the Education Policy Outlook aims to help policy makers and other stakeholders in education learn how their peers in other countries respond to common challenges, from teaching diverse student populations to instituting measures that render schools accountable for the quality of the education they provide. The report offers a detailed look at some 450 education reforms that were adopted across OECD countries between 2008 and 2014. While these policies were developed in specific contexts, they can serve as inspiration for policy makers who are looking for effective ways to improve their own education systems.

Nei Paesi dell’OCSE, oltre il 12% della spesa pubblica è investito nell’istruzione. Tuttavia, studi internazionali come il Programma dell’OCSE per la Valutazione internazionale degli studenti (il cosiddetto programma PISA) evidenziano che ci sono notevoli differenze nel modo di spendere le risorse finanziarie e nei risultati degli investimenti nell’istruzione. La prima edizione del rapporto Education Policy Outlook mira ad aiutare i responsabili delle politiche e altre parti interessate del settore dell’istruzione ad apprendere come i loro omologhi di altri Paesi rispondono a sfide condivise come quelle dell’insegnamento a una popolazione eterogenea di studenti e dell’istituzione di misure che rendono le scuole responsabili della qualità dell’insegnamento che impartiscono. Il rapporto presenta un panorama dettagliato di circa 450 riforme nel campo dell’istruzione che sono state adottate in tutti i Paesi dell’OCSE tra 2008 e il 2014. Sebbene tali riforme siano state sviluppate in circostanze specifiche, possono comunque fungere da fonte d’ispirazione per i responsabili delle politiche dell’istruzione che ricercano modi efficaci per migliorare i sistemi d’istruzione nei loro Paesi.
